Laser & technologyHow a Diode ICE laser works
Wavelengths, ICE cooling and why the diode laser makes the difference compared with IPL and waxing.
A laser treatment is a permanent hair removal method that focuses on destroying the hair follicles with flashes of light of one specific wavelength. The flash of light is converted into heat and passed on to the hair root via the pigment in the hair.
The result is lasting: the hairs stay away. With IPL laser hair removal the result is temporary: you are rid of your hair growth for a while, but after some time the hairs come back, which is very annoying. This is because the hair follicles are not destroyed, but temporarily paralysed.
The DIODE ICE used for permanent hair removal has a type of light that is absorbed by the pigment located at the bottom of the hair follicle. This causes selective heating of the hair follicles situated deep in the skin.
The Four Wave has an extra wavelength: 940 nm. This ensures that the hair follicles are cut off from their nutrients, so that they die off.
The most important characteristics of laser light are the unique wavelength of the light and the concentration of the energy. Scientific research showed that the diode laser gave the best treatment results for permanent hair removal. This is the very latest technology, and it is suitable for all skin types.
The laser is most effective on dark hairs. The skin type does not matter. There are many different types of laser. The very latest in laser hair removal is the Diode 4 Wave Master.
The DIODE ICE used for permanent hair removal has a type of light that is absorbed by the pigment located at the bottom of the hair follicle. This causes selective heating of the hair follicles situated deep in the skin. The unique cooling system of the Diode Ice 4 Wave Master cools the skin throughout the entire treatment, which makes the treatment virtually painless.
Laser hair removal is slightly more expensive, but it does give a permanent result. If you choose to have professional waxing done, that comes at a price too, it is more painful and it takes up more of your time, which is why laser hair removal tends to be preferred after all.
Results & treatmentsWhat your clients can expect
How many sessions, how permanent, and what happens with blonde, grey or red hairs.
It is necessary to undergo several treatments. This is because your hair has to be in a growth phase, as only then is pigment being formed in the hair. Ideally there are 4-6 weeks between treatments, so that your hair is in a growth phase each time.
Because blonde hairs contain little pigment, laser treatment is often not possible. The same applies to grey and red hairs. If you have mainly dark hairs with the odd blonde or grey hair in between, we treat the area with laser first.
The light beams from the lasers are converted into heat by the pigment around the hair root. This short pulse of energy damages the hair root. About 1 to 3 weeks after the laser treatment, the hair may fall out together with the hair root.
Laser hair removal is one of the most effective ways to get rid of unwanted hair growth. After the treatments, all the hairs in that area are permanently gone, but hair growth will never disappear 100%. That is not possible with any treatment.
We work on the basis of an 80% to 90% reduction in hair growth. That is still more than can be achieved with other hair removal equipment. What remains are usually very fine hairs that are not seen by the laser.
About 1 to 3 weeks after the laser treatment, the hair may fall out together with the hair root. Depending on the treatment area, a session takes between 30 minutes and 4 hours. One session affects 10-30% of the active hairs. On average, 6 to 8 treatments are needed.
Preparation & aftercareBefore and after the treatment
Shaving, sun, deodorant and showering — the practical guidelines around a session.
The hairs need to be as short as possible so that the laser light is conducted properly to the hair root, giving it enough energy to heat up. You will notice that you no longer need to shave as much after – even one – laser treatment, because the hairs grow back very slowly, finer and fewer in number.
Make sure you shave the hairs in the area to be treated one day before the treatment, so that stubble is visible. On the day of the treatment: make sure your skin is clean and free of grease. Shave with a simple razor or a disposable razor. Do not use razors or shaving systems that first pull the hair slightly out of the skin before cutting it off, because the hair then sinks back into the skin.
Laser treatments during the summer are safe and just as effective. So laser treatments do not need to be avoided during the summer, provided you stay out of the sun for a certain period after the treatment and only have the skin treated by an expert.
You should not use deodorant for the first 24 hours. The chemicals in the deodorant can cause skin irritation.
We normally advise refraining from sexual activity for up to 24 hours after the treatment. This gives your skin some time to recover and allows the irritated parts of the body to settle.
It is sensible, for up to about two weeks after the treatment, not to take hot showers or go to a sauna, swimming pool or steam bath. When showering, it is sensible to avoid products such as scrubs.
Bikini lineBikini line small and large
Exactly what is lasered and whether the treatment can be done during menstruation.
The laser ensures that the hair around the bikini line and the associated hair follicles are destroyed in the active hair growth phase, so that hairs can no longer grow.
Using a special wavelength, the laser destroys the hairs, root and all. You feel a few pinpricks on the skin.
The treatment can simply go ahead during menstruation. It may be slightly more sensitive, though.
Bikini line small is done with underwear on, and all hair that is visible is lasered. Bikini line large is done without underwear, and the entire area is lasered: groin, mons pubis, labia and between the buttocks.
Maintenance & serviceAfter purchase: parts, faults and warranty
What you reorder, how that works, and what you do if something is not working the way you want.
No. Our equipment is maintenance-free in the sense that you do not need an expensive maintenance contract. With normal use you will need to replace a part or consumable at some point; you order that from us.
These are the parts you will replace at some point with normal use. They belong to the devices we supply, so we know exactly which size and which type fits your device.
- Water filters for the diode lasers. Each device comes with two; replacing them in good time keeps the cooling, and with it the treatment quality, up to standard.
- Laser safety glasses for client and practitioner, matching the wavelength range of 755 to 1064 nm. The starter package includes four.
- Attachments and handpieces: the attachment for small treatments with the lasers, and spare handpieces (large and small) for the BodySculpting devices.
- Antifreeze membranes and demineralised water for the Cryolipolyse 360° PLATINA MAX. The device comes with ten membranes; after that you reorder per set.
- Straps and fuses: sets of straps in S, M and L for the BodySculpting PRO and PRO-4, plus spare fuses.
- Foot switch and installation materials: replacement parts for the diode lasers, so that you are not left at a standstill if something fails.
We have deliberately chosen not to have an online shop. You email or WhatsApp us what you need and for which device; you get a price quote with delivery time in return. Small parts go by post, larger ones we bring along when we are in your area anyway.
Not sure which type you need? Send a photo of the part along with your message. Prices are exclusive of VAT, for business customers. Email info@beautybodyshaping.nl.
Call or WhatsApp us straight away, even if you would like to take a look at it yourself first. We resolve most faults remotely by (video) call, often within a few minutes: you look at the screen and the message together with us, and then you quickly know what is causing it.
Keep the device switched on, and note down the exact message and what you were doing when it happened. A photo or short video of the screen helps us enormously.
Then you get a replacement device free of charge, so you can simply carry on with your appointments.
New equipment comes with a 24-month full warranty. We do not charge for parts covered by the warranty. Wear parts and consumables are not covered by the warranty in the case of normal wear and tear.

Question 25How does hair grow? And in which phase is laser hair removal possible?
To understand how hair grows, we first need to look at its parts. Hair consists of two parts: the follicle and the shaft. The shaft grows out of the follicle; the root of the hair, which is located beneath the skin. There are around 100,000 hair follicles on the scalp alone, and five million hair follicles on the body.
The hair cycle consists of four phases: (1) the anagen or growth phase, (2) the catagen or transition phase, (3) the telogen or resting phase and (4) the exogen or shedding phase.
Phase 1
Anagen (hair growth) phase
The anagen or growing phase is the first part of the hair growth cycle. During the anagen phase, the cells of the bulb divide rapidly, resulting in new hair growth. Eighty to 90% of the hair follicles are in the anagen phase at any given time. The anagen phase lasts somewhere between two and seven years. The length of the anagen phase determines the maximum hair length. Eyelashes, eyebrows and body hair have shorter growth phases than the hair on your head, which is why they are much shorter than scalp hair. Genetics, nutrition, age and overall health influence the length of the anagen phase.
Phase 2
Catagen phase (transition)
After the hair growth phase, the catagen phase begins. This short transition phase lasts only two to three weeks. During the catagen phase, the hair stops growing and detaches from the blood supply. This makes the hair weak.
Phase 3
Telogen (resting) phase
The telogen or resting phase follows the catagen phase. During the telogen phase, the weak hair rests while a new hair begins to grow beneath it. This new hair will eventually take the place of the weak hair. The telogen phase lasts three months, and 10-15% of all hairs are in this phase at any given moment.
Phase 4
Exogen (shedding) phase
The exogen, or shedding phase, is the final part of the hair cycle. During the exogen phase, the resting hair is released and falls out. Every hair eventually falls out, and it is completely normal to lose 50 to 100 hairs every day. After the exogen phase, the hair follicle returns to the anagen phase and the cycle repeats itself.
